New: V-Ray 6 for 3ds Max

News | July 14, 2022

V-Ray 6 for 3ds Max is available for download! This new version again includes many new options and improvements. Below we list everything new in V-Ray 6.

What are the new features in V-Ray 6?

Chaos Scatter: New in V-Ray 6!
The new scatter tool lets you quickly and easily create forests, fields, crowds, and more. You can add so many details to the scene without using a lot of memory. Free Scatter presets are also available in Chaos Cosmos.

V-Ray Enmesh: New in V-Ray 6!
Enmesh allows you to think of geometry as a texture. However, instead of repeating an image over a surface, it uses seamlessly repeating geometry. Use Enmesh to create patterns such as fences and fabrics. It uses much less memory than displacement or copying by hand.

Chaos Cloud Collaboration: New in V-Ray 6!
This now gives you quick feedback on work progress. Upload renders directly from V-Ray’s frame buffer to Chaos Cloud Collaboration. Share this work with colleagues and clients to add comments and annotations.

V-Ray Proxy Object Hierarchy:
V-Ray Proxy’s new hierarchical view makes it easy to turn on or off the visibility of a single object or material transfer. Here you can set custom order by name, and streamline geometry exchange and custom library workflows.

V-Ray Decal with Displacement:
You can now use V-Ray Decal (decal/print) to add displacement to any surface. So you get even more realistic cracked walls, rocks, embossed letters, and more.

Procedural Clouds:
With just a few clicks, create the right cloud sky for scenes with V-Ray’s new procedural cloud system.

New ground projection:
V-Ray Dome Light’s new, flexible ground projection takes HDRI renders to the next level.

Batch load textures:
V-Ray
6 introduces the option to batch load textures in VRayMultiSubTex. This lets you add variety to scenes even faster than before. Moreover, you can create material variations in no time.

Light Mix light selection:
Get easy access to scene lights with the option to select them directly in the Light Mix interface.

V-Ray Material Faster SSS:
A brand new V-Ray Material SSS mode lets you render translucent materials even faster.

Enhanced energy conservation of V-Ray Material:
With V-Ray Material’s enhanced energy conservation, you physically render rough metals and other reflective surfaces even more accurately.

Thin Film layer:
Create realistic soap bubbles, oil slicks and other thin film layers with the new Thin Film option in V-Ray Material.

Faster UI draw times:
V-Ray
‘s interface for materials and textures now has much faster load times. This gives you a smoother experience when working with material networks.

Composition Guides Layer in VFB:
Refine the composition of scenes without a separate application. With the new composition help layer in the VFB, with customizable overlays, you can easily experiment and improve image compositions.

VFB Panorama Viewer:
View spherical panorama renders while rendering, directly from the V-Ray Frame Buffer.
