SketchUp Studio is the ideal software for anyone who wants to create, share, or download 3D models. For example, use it for architecture, landscape architecture or interior design projects.

SketchUp Studio lets you go from complex scan data with Trimble Scan Essentials to 3D modeling with the familiar SketchUp tools. SketchUp Studio also gives you access to the V-Ray rendering module with which you can dazzle your clients with beautiful visualizations.

Please note, SketchUp Studio is Windows only and the at student/teacher version does NOT include Vray!

Description

Features SketchUp Studio

In SketchUp Studio you can use all the tools you find in SketchUp Pro. For example, you can easily use drawing tools, create shadows with a single click, and simply create beautiful cross-sections of your model. You can also generate reports in tabular form, attach different properties to your components, and present your design in different styles.

Visualization

Photorealistic Materials and Environments
Get instant access to photorealistic materials and environments in SketchUp. Visualize lifelike materials, make thoughtful design choices, and create stunning visuals-without rendering or waiting. From concept to photorealism, with powerful and simple tools.

Environments (Image-Based Lighting – IBL)
360-degree HDR or EXR images act as light sources, reflecting on materials and enhancing reality. Use them as visible backgrounds or purely as light sources for realistic ambience.

Photorealistic Materials (Physically Based Rendering – PBR)
PBR materials accurately display texture and light absorption, allowing designers to make precise material and finishing choices.

Ambient Occlusion (AO)
Enhance depth and realism, with or without applied materials. This global style emphasizes edges and corners for added visual emphasis.

Generating Textures

  1. Use AI to create texture maps for image-based photorealistic materials.
  2. Generate tileable textures from classic SketchUp materials.

Interoperability

Move smoothly between SketchUp, Revit, and IFC files while preserving data. SketchUp 2025 improves compatibility with these formats, enabling standardized file exchange and efficient design workflow.

IFC Imports

  • Geometry optimization – Reuse component geometry, reduce file size up to 85% and speed up import time.
  • Tags for IFC classes – Automatically generate tags for each imported IFC class, facilitating organization.
  • IFC class recognition – SketchUp now supports more than 180 IFC classes for more accurate classification.
  • Version retention – Maintain the original IFC version (2×3 or 4) for data integrity.

IFC Export

  • Preserve Outliner hierarchy – Preserve component structure for reliable IFC export.
  • New component dictionaries – Added new PropertySets and classification folders to Component Options.
  • Component name updates – For consistent IfcClass and IFC entity names.

Revit Importer

  • Import a Revit view – Choose specific 3D views from Revit files for more control over imports.
  • Data preservation – SketchUp preserves essential metadata and recognizes IFC classes, supporting BIM workflows.

Scan Essentials

  • Updated iconography – New UI/icons provide consistency within SketchUp tools and improve navigation.

Additional features of SketchUp Studio

Besides the above tools, SketchUp Studio also lets you use two additional tools that you won’t find by default in SketchUp Pro:

Trimble Scan Essentials: SketchUp Studio
Gives you access to tools to import, view, and model point clouds directly on them in SketchUp. The imported data serves as a blueprint for a solid 3D foundation. That way you don’t have to start from scratch.

V-Ray for SketchUp: – SketchUp Studio
With V-Ray for SketchUp, you can create photorealistic renders of your projects.

Revit Importer: – SketchUp Studio
Since the launch of SketchUp 2023, you can also enjoy seamless Revit file import thanks to the Revit Importer. It easily converts Autodesk Revit models to SketchUp files.
